I had the misfortune of having to waste my time trying out many compression socks, ranging from $10 to $75. Some caused red creases on my ankles (ouch for several days), nearly all pressed too hard against my wide size 11 feet, some even caused some vein injuries.
This and another brand were the only two I thought actually worked properly, and the SoleUtion is far more comfortable. 1. Its foot stretches well (medical compression socks compress from ankle to calf, not foot) for my wide feet 2. I'm 6 feet 1 and agree with other posters that the length is quite long. But, its weave makes it such that I can smooth out its length over my entire leg--this smoothing out characteristic is superior to the smoothing out in other socks I tried. 3. One particular $75 sock was more comfortable and fit better, but, these types of compression socks are easily damaged, and I'd much rather damage a $12 SoleUtion than a $75 other brand.
My primary complaint--the weave is thin on the foot, so it's a cold sock. Wonder if my feet will freeze in the winter?

The khaki fit me well and I have no issues, but the black are about 4" too long at the calf and far too long at the foot. The end result is a whole lot of pain as the sock bunches up all over.

This is the only sock from Gold Toe that actually fits a man's size 7 shoe. And the only sock I can find anywhere that is tall enough for a man's leg, not a boy's. Yes it is "too tall"; but works well "scrunched down" if you don't want the over the calf length. After washing the first time a few elastic threads had to be snipped. I'll repost after 6 months for longevity.

I bought 2 pair of the larger size. They were definitely not over the calf but I decided to buy 4 more pair because they were just okay and I wanted the moderate compression model. The 4 new pairs were even smaller and are unwearable.

They do not seem to be as high as other over-the-calf models. However, the compression and comfort are perfect for me. This is based on two pair. I'm ordering more and will wear regularly. if my opinion changes, I'll post new stars.

These socks are NOT over the calf. After my husband wore one time, the seam at the ankle started pulling loose and formed a hole.
